An update from Michael Wangusa (see previous post here)
By Friday, 27 February 2009 the number of broadcasting stations that had confirmed participation in the ICDB 2009 in Uganda had risen to 77 as per the attached list. We were able to have such big number this year because in November and December 2008 we had 5 regional one day ICDB sensitization workshops in Uganda each attended by two representatives from an average of 20 broadcasting stations per region.
The representatives included programme managers, producers and presenters of children’s programmes. We sensitized them about the ICDB and the role of the broadcasting media in promoting child rights. We ensured that stations that had participated in previous ICDBs in Uganda, which we began to organise in Uganda in 2004, accumulative number of about 30 stations, participated in the workshops to share their experiences with the new participating stations.
